ABOUT ME

Hey!

I’m super excited you’re visiting my site and interested in learning more about me & the services I offer.

Saying “I’m an open book!” is pretty weird and boundary-less so I’ll focus on parts of my personality and my approach to mental health and anti-racism that can help you catch my vibe and determine if it’s something that resonates with you.

I grew up in Trenton, NJ during the crack epidemic. It was bad, worse than you can imagine. Worse than documentaries of that time period depict. Before crack, I lived in a typical Black poor/working class neighborhood.

After crack and mass incarceration- every single family unit was destabilized. My family wasn’t exempt.

My aunt became addicted to crack. I was around 8 years old and had a front row seat to the degenerative disease of addiction. She was hilarious, boisterous and (she doesn’t know this) my favorite aunt. I saw her and my other friend’s parents disintegrate into walking ghosts. We’d walk pass them on our way to school shattered by shamed because they were visibly high.

I was definitely a sensitive kid. I’m an Aquarius and totally most likely born a social worker with a fight the power spirit. My little 8-year-old eyes witnessing crack drain the lives of people I knew & loved sparked empathy and compassion I didn’t have the language to articulate. I understand my aunt was sick, isolated and confused. I knew she needed help.

I decided back them I would become a person who would help those in need.

Fast forward to now, almost 30 years from that pivotal decision, and I’m doing exactly what I envisioned- in every way imaginable.

I’ll definitely talk more about being a social worker/psychotherapist. I’ll make sure you understand what those words mean. I’ll probably flex about Boston University and being an adjunct professor at 33. I promise there’s boasting coming about me being on television in Las Vegas!

What I like most about this period of my personal  & professional growth and development is I’m unapologetically all of me.

The Jersey girl who loves hip-hop and Jordan’s, the polished academic who geeks out on documentaries in my spare time and the (possibly annoying) doggy momma that legit has entire conversations with my maltipoo Sage. What’s dope about all of that

is because I’m always learning more about being myself, when you work with me, all of yourself is welcome, validated and celebrated.
